All applicants MUST take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test. Your scores must be sent directly to Carnegie Mellon University (School of Computer Science) and to the University of Coimbra. To apply to the MSE program, the GRE General Test is required; the GRE Computer Science Subject Test is not required. You can register for the GRE General Test at the ETS registration site. The GRE costs $160 USD. In Portugal the GRE Computer-Based test can only be taken at Universidade Lusofona de Humanidades e Tecnologias in Lisbon. You can take the paper-based test in our Department, in Coimbra (taking place on February 21st 2009).

Note about GRE/TOEFL:
If you haven’t done these tests before you should prepare for them. It’s highly advisable that you solve a number of practice tests before. The score you get on the first tests is typically low, but it highly increases after some practice. Get ready!
